Setting up a new country website using a CMS with pre-built page templates, design style, and basic assets involves several steps:

Planning and Research

  • Define Goals: Understand the purpose of the website. Is it only for promotion of the EU agri-food? Or is there also a goal to facilitate business opportunities and to generate leads?
  • Audience Analysis: Identify the target audience—consumers, HoReCa professionals, retailers, importers, etc.
  • Content Strategy: Plan the types of content needed (e.g., pages for inspiration, level of product information and details, news, contacts).

Request a new country site configuration

  • When requesting a new country site, the following information must be provided:
  • Name of the campaign
  • Target country
  • Language requirements: Specify if the webpages need to be in English only, or if other languages are required, and list them.
  • First and last names, and email addresses of users who must have access to the platform (As of the time of drafting this guide, access for non-EC EU logins is not yet available.)
  • If contact forms are required, a user will be assigned as the administrator of the form. This user will be responsible for building the form.
  • Required content listings: Specify which of the 4 available listings are needed — Resources, Product Categories, News and Events, Recipes.

Select Pre-Built Templates

  • Browse pre-built page templates to build your country website. Look for templates that align with your content categories (e.g., homepage, about, contact, relevant product categories, inspirational content).
  • Define the structure of your website and create the navigation menu that corresponds to the campaign’s scope and objectives. Consider content strategy and how much and detailed information you will develop for your target audiences.
  • Customise the footer.

Content Population

  • Homepage: Introduce the country with captivating imagery and concise text.
  • Product categories: Select relevant product category pages based on EU products that will be promoted as part of the campaign. Decide if you wish to include and show on the website products.
  • Inspiration: Use recipe pages to inspire your target audience to experience and taste the EU agri-food products first-hand. You can also use news page template for inspirational storytelling such as podcasts, blog or similar content.
  • News and Events: Include a section for updates, events, and announcements.
  • Resources: Upload useful resources – aimed at press and media, business community and food industry professionals.
  • Contact Information: Provide a web form for inquiries and media contacts. Arrange content blocks on various selected pages and customise these templates using the CMS’s design tools. Adjust the layout by using relevant components that are available for a specific page template.

Basic Assets Integration

  • Images and Videos: Use high-quality visuals to showcase the quality and richness of EU food and drinks. NB: AV material is where you can have more customisation and linkages with your campaign’s /and events’ visual identity. The structure of the website cannot be changes in terms of design, but pictures and video can recall your visual identity.
  • Social wall: Embed an interactive social media wall on landing pages using Flockler or any other third-party service. This integration helps increase audience engagement and showcases authentic experiences related to EU food and drinks at the local level.
  • Photo gallery: Embed a dynamic photo gallery on landing pages or news and events to highlight key moments from events, campaigns, or initiatives. This feature allows you to visually showcase the impact of EU food and drink initiatives at a local level, enhancing audience engagement and providing an authentic visual narrative.
  • Social Media Links: Select and link to your official social media profiles to grow your following.

SEO Optimisation

  • Keywords: Research relevant keywords related to your country.
  • Meta Tags: Optimise meta titles, descriptions, and alt tags for search engines.
  • Local SEO: Include location-specific information (addresses, phone numbers) for better local search visibility.

Testing and Launch

  • Responsiveness: Ensure the website looks good on various devices (desktop, tablet, mobile).
  • Functionality: Test forms, links, and navigation.
  • Browser Compatibility: Verify compatibility across different browsers.
  • Launch: Publish the website and promote it through official channels.

Remember, the goal is to create an informative, visually appealing website that represents the EIFE campaign in your country effectively!
